German-Ukrainian drone manufacturer United Unmanned Systems (UUS) and Estonian-Ukrainian defense technology company DOD Solution, which develops onboard autonomy for unmanned systems, have established a strategic partnership focused on the integration of AI-driven capabilities into strike drone systems, with a particular emphasis on automated targeting, visual navigation and mission autonomy.
UUS contributes extensive operational experience from the delivery of more than 10,000 strike drone systems, combined with German engineering expertise and direct feedback from the battlefield. DOD Solution contributes its expertise in onboard autonomy, including computer vision, visual navigation, target recognition and tracking, and terminal guidance.
The partnership has already resulted in successful testing of UUS strike drones integrated with DOD Solution’s AURA AI onboard autonomy technology. The systems have subsequently been employed in combat operations, including successful strikes against Russian military targets in the Donbas region.
The collaboration reflects the growing importance of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems in modern warfare. By combining Ukrainian battlefield experience and autonomy expertise with German engineering and industrial capabilities, the partnership aims to accelerate the development and deployment of increasingly autonomous and precise unmanned systems.
The cooperation marks another step toward the closer integration of German and Ukrainian defense-technology companies and underlines the potential of joint innovation between the two countries in developing next-generation battlefield technologies.
UUS develops and delivers mission-specific unmanned systems, including FPV strike drones, bomber UAVs, ISR platforms and interceptor drones, with a focus on rapidly translating frontline requirements into deployable battlefield capabilities.
UUS manufactures kamikaze, bomber and interceptor drones, alongside logistics and reconnaissance variants, based on its 10-, 13-, 15- and 17-inch UAS platforms. Its latest high-speed interceptor – the “Furia” – can chase Russian targets such as “Gerbera” and "Shahed" drones at more than 300 kilometers per hour.
The company works with unmanned platform manufacturers to integrate AI-powered autonomy across a wide range of defense applications.
Its flagship product, the AURA AI platform, combines proprietary software and the AURA SBC onboard computer to enable autonomous navigation, perception, target recognition, tracking and terminal guidance in GPS-denied and communication-constrained environments.
